About the Event

Tonight’s topic is honeybee nutrition as we leave the dearth and hopefully see the fall flowering begin at the end of September. What do you need to prepare for the fall flow? Follow the succession of blooms from sumac through goldenrod and Spanish needles (aka Bidens alba). This plant produces the third largest honey crop  - if there’s good rain.

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Honeybee Inspector Jeff Pippin leads to night's presentation and Q&A. What will you need to take advantage of the fall flow? Or what to do if there’s not enough food for your hives to be ready for winter. Jeff is an amazing wealth of information! He couldn’t make the earlier scheduled meeting, so be sure you don’t miss him tonight at the Extension Office.

We'll also touch on IPM - Integrated Pest Management. Are you counting your mites? What's your treatment plans? You've got question. We've got answers. See you at the meeting. It is free and open to the public. Members can watch Jeff's "Mite Counting" video from the May 2022 Bee college in Chipley at the ABA website Forum.

LOCATION UPDATE AND OPEN HIVES: As of the September Meeting we’ll be back at the Leon County Extension Office, 615 Paul Russell Road. Open Hive Demonstration begins at 5:30 (if there’s no rain). Bring your veil. We’ll start the meeting inside the LCEO at 6:30pm.
