Apalachee Beekeepers Assn has ordered 50 5-frame nucs with marked queens. Delivery is expected mid April depending on weather etc. Price will be $150 each and will include a beetle trap and an Apavar strip for mite control. We also hope to again offer our Nucs for Newbees Program where club members sell nucs at same price/similar delivery through the club. Nucs purchased through this program come with the same guarantee of quality etc as the club nucs. First choice for the club nucs will go to attendees at our bee course. If any are left over they will be offered first to ABA members who helped with the bee course and then to current ABA members. Lastly, to non-members. We won't begin reserving the club nucs until the bee course on March 07, 2020 In addition, there will be other beekeepers selling nucs that are not in our Nucs for Newbees program and ABA will not guarantee quality etc. Purchases from these sources will be at your own risk. Make sure your vendor has the necessary Stock Dealer Certificate and/or Queen Certificate from DOACS to sell honeybees and/or honey bee queens in Fla. Need more details? I put nucs adjacent to 10 frame boxes regularly. If the nuc is weak, due to numerous reasons, you may want to consider reducing the entry. Then monitor the nuc for growth.
Have a question about putting a new nuc hive next to an established hive. Can I do that? Or should I keep the new nuc hives far away from my established hive?
