I have read to not use apivar strips several weeks before putting honey supers on. Then after taking honey supers off, that it is ok to use them. Do I continue using apivar strips until just prior to next years honey flow? Thanks for any insight on their proper use.

Typically, you'd use them twice a year, for 42 days. You're correct, do not use when supers are in place or it will contaminate the honey. There are also other factors like temperature and humidity to consider. However, to avoid resistance you will want to consider various treatments used in rotation. Some varroa treatments like vaporized oxalic acid do not build resistance but can have other effects. The June meet focuses on integrated pest treatment.
