I’m fairly new to the club and consider myself very new to bee keeping. I got my 1st nuc last spring but had never found my Queen. Now comes spring a year later … my hive population explodes and I need to do a split but still can’t find that hard working queen of mine!! I knew a swarm would take place any second … but I didn’t know what the heck to do!! Thank goodness for our club and our members that are so willing to help us newbees!! I messaged Bob Livingston for advice and he came down to St. Marks that very day. He taught me how to properly light my smoker, helped me locate and mark my queen and taught me how to do a swarm prevention split to a nuc. I’ve now added my second super and my hives are doing very well.
Fellow club members David Sheppard and Linda have been great friends and mentors for me as well. Always willing to take time out of their schedule to take a look at my hives.
I’m truly grateful for the help and sense of community I have found in our club. Makes all the difference in my experience as a beekeeper. Thank you, thank you
