Hive Yourself a Good Time at the North Florida Fair

Updated: Sep 26, 2023

We need volunteers to staff the ABA Fair Booth during the North Florida Fair, happening Nov 1-12, 2023. We sell our club honey at our booth, and you'd be surprised by how many customers strike up a conversation or ask questions about keeping bees. Whether you've been keeping bees for years or this is your first year, you're exactly who we're looking for to help man the booth! Maybe because you've only kept bees for a few months, you don't think you have the knowledge to share with others, but that couldn't be further from the truth. People appreciate talking to someone who has recently had the same questions and concerns as they have. Anything you know is likely a lot more than they do, so go ahead, sign up and feel like the expert that you are!

If you sign up, you receive a parking pass and free entry into the fair, so you can absolutely enjoy all the fun things to see and do while you're there! You must be a dues-paying member in good standing to sign up. There are arts and crafts, food, homemade goods and produce, livestock competitions, live music and dance performances, games, rides and even more food. Enjoy some good ole Americana while helping promote the value of bees and beekeeping!

At this month's meeting, we passed around a sign up sheet, and while several individuals signed up, we still need more! There are available slots are from 5 pm - 10 pm everyday throughout the fair, as well as from 12 pm - 5 pm on the weekends. and Go here to the on-line SignUp Genius link so you can choose which dates work best for you. When you click this link, just choose your dates and then hit the “Submit and Sign Up” button at the bottom of the list. You can choose as many dates as you like. We need two people per slot, so bring a friend, but make sure they sign up online as well. (PS. This is a free service, so don’t be distracted by the ads that pop-up all around the list, that’s how they keep this service free!)

Also, if you previously signed up on the paper form at the last meeting, go to the link, choose the "someone signed in for me" and then create an account or sign in to one already created, make your changes and you're gold. This is helpful so you can receive notifications if there a problem (like closed for rain etc.).

See you there!
